Do you know what a genome is?

Saturday, at the International Museum of Art and Science (IMAS), the kids and I enjoyed checking out this new exhibit called Genome: The Secret of How Life Works. It was a great interactive and educational exhibit. We are going to go back and use some of the lesson plans from here to prepare us to get the most out of it.

Flat Stanley Visits the Valley
Ok, for a dear family in South Carolina, we were asked to show 'ole Flat Stanley around the Valley. So, can you figure out some of the fun places he was able to visit and some new things he was able to do?
Stanley was able to...
1) Stand in a sago palm;
2) Visit a border crossing to Mexico;
3) Become acquainted with the local crops: aloe and sugar cane;
4) Visit the Marine Military Academy;
5) Look at the many colorful Murals in our downtown district;
6) Check out the Border Patrol Station;
7) Climb a mesquite tree;
8) Go "birding" at a nature park;
9) Hike a trail at a nature park;
10) Climb a Christmas tree;
11) Go to the Texas Travel Information Center;
12) Find the way to the beach;
Have fun!
P.S. Flat Stanley is wearing the Texas Longhorn cap and the Texas A&M jersey which signify the two most popular college teams in the area...I bite my tongue...(Go Red Raiders!)
