Happy Birthday, S!!!!

Six years ago, we were blessed by the birth of our super special S-man! He is full of energy and curiousity! We rejoice in watching him grow and discover new things everyday. To see life through S's adventurous eyes is a great way to get a renewed perspective on life! We thank the Lord for our Little Man!

It's a Wrap and a Sugar Chalet!

So, once again, the kids are using their creative juices! Today was decorating gift bags and wrapping paper for their gifts they are giving. Yesterday was the Sugar Chalet! (Thanks, Family Fun!)

Christmas Activities! Preparations Galore!

Things are abuzz with our preparations for Christmas. The children have especially taken an interest in this process. Popcorn garland, tissue paper snowmen, Advent calendar, decorating their "Charlie Brown" tree, slumber parties by the light of the Christmas tree, watching Christmas specials, carefully arranging the Manger Scene with the precious Baby Jesus.

Thank you, Jesus, for coming! We celebrate YOU!

Since the last post...

E. has finished The Tale of Despereaux.
We have watched the movie...he recognized a difference immediately on the cover of the DVD...I am not telling...YOU have to figure it out! :-)
He has since read The Tiger Rising, which is also by Kate Dicamillo, and is currently working on Herman Melville's Moby Dick.

Fourth Grade Reading Assignment

One of E.'s reading assignments for this fall is The Tale of Despereaux. We have not seen the movie yet and will not until he is finished. Part of his assignment will be to compare and contrast the book and the movie. Another great resource we found is this teacher's guide from Universal Studios and Scholastic Books.

Kid Quotes

"Mom, you must be an alien from the planet Delicious!" - E., while eating some spaghetti with our homemade sauce

What is so funny about vomiting?

The young 'uns have become quite humored by vomiting! I guess until they have to clean it up themselves, they will be amused!

(P.S. Thankfully, no one has been sick in this way lately!)

Finally!

A. had been wanting to build a Geodesic Dome with old newspapers for about a month now! We constructed the parts as we received more newspapers. So, FINALLY, tonight we assembled it and were very pleased by the outcome.
For step by step instructions go to Family Fun!

Fall Days, School Days

The beautiful fall weather provides a great reason to take our "classroom" outside!

Fine Art?

A.'s art class had to take two lines and create a portrait.
If you look closely, you can see an example in Spongebob's Art Museum!
E. created LEGO sculptures for his wing of the museum!

GAME ON!!

Today, S. and I are opponents...well sort of!
With a closer look, I am wearing my Texas Tech cap and S. is proudly wearing his Husker cap. This morning we boldly wore them to the E.'s soccer game (we are in Longhorn and Aggie country here) when we realized, hey they play each other today!
In about an hour my alma mater (Texas Tech) with take on the my brothers' alma mater (the University of Nebraska). They will be watching from two different parts of the good 'ole Cornhusker state, as I will be watching from just about the most southern part of Texas possible! What fun! Go TECH!
Oh, did I mention I was born in the Big O, so TECHnically, I cannot lose today!

A Fall Full of Fun!

This fall has provided a big change for us! We have three of our four young 'uns participating in extra-curricular activities! That is pretty significant considering we went from zero to three! HA!

One of the best gymnastic and dance centers here has offered a homeschoolers gymnastics class. So, the girls have seized the opportunity! They are having a blast...so am I! It sure is fun watching them run around and flip here and there!
Another new adventure, E. has joined a local youth soccer club. He has really been a trooper since practice has been in 95+ degrees. His first game on Saturday was a win (we will be thankful even if it was because the other team was a no-show ;-) )!
S. decided he just wanted to support his siblings for the time being! He is a great booster!! ;-)

We had a great time!
